Vanx, Trevin, and Darbon, along with Prince Russet and the crew of the Sea Hawk, sail to Vanx's homeland to find an old friend who just might know the wyrm lore needed to make their quest to Dragon Isle seem survivable.

Meanwhile Coll and Duke Martin have set their shadowy schemes in motion in Dyntalla where Quazar is keeping the princess from death with all he has.

What will King Oakarm do about Duke Martin's treachery when he arrives? Will Matty the one-handed whore get her wish? Can two High Wizards of the Royal Order hold off the ogres, and the even darker thing that is seeking the Bloodstone? And what will happen on Dragon Isle, where our hero and his friends have become little more than prey under the revealing light of Aur's Moon.

You can only find out by reading The Legend of Vanx Malic Book Two - Dragon Isle

Dragon Isle The Legend of Vanx Malic Book 2 eBook M R Mathias

There are two intertwined storylines within this book, those left behind battling ogres and trying to save a sick girl, and those trying to find the remedy for the girl through many perils. Those who seem successful may not be as successful as they thought, and the one left for death may end up bringing life. The tension is steady, and the action steadier, leaving the question of who will succeed?

The hero, Vanx Malice, is strongly portrayed, and although he hesitates at some points his courage remains strong. One man cannot complete an epic quest alone, and his companions are strong and well portrayed. The strongest part of the book is the quest for what is needed for the healing. It was also interesting how the final trial ended up, with one villain getting himself outsmarted so easily.

I gave five stars due to the characterization, rising action, and engagement of this book. I could barely put it down, and finished it in two hours flat. One slight negative is that I wanted to know what happened previously, to bring Vanx to this spot. It felt like jumping into the middle of a story and not knowing what had happened or even where it was happening.

I would recommend this book to adults who enjoy a healthy dose of fantasy, combined with a high rate of danger and huge risks. The main character is fascinating and you may just wonder, what happens to him next?

Dragon Isle The Legend of Vanx Malic Book 2 eBook M R Mathias Reviews

The continuation of the adventures of Vanx Malic. His friend is bitten by a poisonous flower and needs the blood of the queen dragon to save her. He and his friends both human and Zyth travel to Dragon Isle in pursue of the poison. Back at castle of Dyntalla, while the eveyone else trying to defend their walls and their King from the Ogres that are trying to breach the castle walls, Duke Martin and his cohorts begin scheming to plotting on their own to steal the blood stone and kill Vanx.

While it helped that I had read book 1 first this book did well as a stand alone book. The author does a good job of drawing the reader in quicker and holding our attention throughout the book. While it is part of the fantasy genre this book is well written and contents a lot of action and adventure. There are enough "real life" components to it that it doesn't seem so impossible.
"By the fargin barnacles clinging to my arse, you saggy-titted niddies are going to scrub the deck down to the splinters for that..."

Besides the brain wracking; breath holding suspense, I loved the humorous quips the author presented in "Dragon Isle The Legend of Vanx Malic." I felt at times that I was among a set of beloved old uncles. Like even though you knew that these guys could get into some serious trouble; at the end of the day, they had hearts of gold.

The Legend of Vanx Malic is the second book from "Through the Wildwood" and chronicles the half Zythian half human named Vanx. In this dramatically mythical adventure, Vanx is now on a quest to free the only daughter of a Dutchess and the love of his comrades life; Trevin.

Many times I found myself perched with baited breath over my kindle as the team trecked through the merciless expanse of the wooded forest teaming with flaming dragons. We're they going to make it?
I know the hero is supposed to make it...(well it happens like that most of the time) but "M.R" was making me scared.
I mean; I had already attained a liking for these rough shod men in the beginning and now my suspended reality was being threatened by a possible massacre?!

Strangely and interestingly enough though... the lesson I got from this fantastic read was that; when all else fails, face your fears because at the end of the day, the only thing to fear is fear itself.

There is no shortage of mind numbing, breath stopping, heart racing adventure in this read and shows that love will go to any lengths to seek that which it desires.

If you love adventure... no wait
If you love mythical adventure...hold on that's not it
If you love enchanted mythical adventure draped in suspense...Then take the journey with Vanx today.

Listen...I'm of the belief that... when reading a book, and you don't realize that you've stopped breathing until your head starts feeling light...then that's when you know you've been hooked by a damn good book. `

Though you can read this book as if it was the first I highly recommend you purchase the first book to this series "Through the Wildwood," it just makes the subject matter that more breathtaking. And just as a teaser to help ease your pain, M.R has included three sample chapters of the third book in this series to give you a glimpse into the future of the fascinating world of Vance Malic.
Dragon Isle is the second book In a fantasy series The Legend of Vanx Malic, written by M.R. Mathias. I finished reading the first book wishing that the second book would be better by having a better story pace and more background stories to the characters.

The second book has everything Im wishing for. The story pace is consistent from the start and the action is definitely faster. There is no more frustration when it comes to Vanxs action because this book is definitely more intense than the first one. The scenes are more grueling than the first one because it involves new mystical creature (dragons and demons) and their mission of saving a princess from dying, make the book even better.

Im not really a big fan of the characters in the first book, both for Vanx and other supporting characters. In this book, Vanx characters grow better and he has a very strong personality since the first chapter. I could hardly recall him being a slave in the first book. As for other supporting characters, I like them better than the one in the first book because the author included their backstory and reasons of being in the ship with Vanx to the Dragon Isle.

The vivid description of the fantasy world the characters live in is also another love for me. I like that the author could keep a consistent track of writing two different places with relatable elements to it.

I hope the third book will be as great or even better than this one.
